Couples and Marriage Therapy
Couples and Marriage Therapy is a 1.5-hour session where a couple collaborates with the therapist to craft an understanding of how the sessions will both support the needs of each individual and the couple’s relationship. The sessions will look at the evolution of the relationship over time to assist in co-creating where the relationship will go next.
Does couples and marriage therapy really help?
In any relationship, many issues can cause tension, such as unhealthy behavioral patterns, careers, parenting, physical intimacy, past relationships, money, and other obligations and stressors. It is natural to argue in relationships and go through ups and downs. Although if you and your partner find yourselves turning arguments into fights and start feeling resentment, then therapy can be beneficial.
Our therapists work with you as a couple to identify obstacles and help build healthy coping mechanisms within your relationship. Couples counseling can involve learning executive functioning skills, interpersonal learning skills, and becoming more aware of behavioral patterns.
We can help teach you and your partner anger management, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and communication skills. After learning and practicing these new skills in therapy, you and your partner will have a newfound appreciation, admiration, and respect for each other. Therapy may be the first step in showing commitment and trust in your relationship.
