“The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new." Rajneesh
About Me
"The most difficult part of birth is the first year afterwards. It is the year of travail when the soul of a woman must birth the mother inside her… It is a private and silent birth of the soul. It is no less holy than the event of childbirth. Perhaps it is even more sacred." Joy Kuseck
I started my career in clinical social work in a high risk OB clinic. It was there that I found my passion for working with mothers, however it was not until many years later after birthing my first child that I realized my calling and began to search for a way I could support mothers during the pregnancy and postpartum time.
After the birth of my son I discovered I had chronic low milk supply, confused and distraught by this news I went on a mission to find support and information about this condition. Sadly, there was little to be found. After many months of struggling alone I was determined to build a network of support for mothers facing postpartum challenges.
I hold a dual Masters in Clinical Social Work and Public Health. I am also a Certified INNATE Postpartum Practitioner. I have an extensive background in energy psychology, ceremony practice, as well as, traditional counseling psychology. I have formal training in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders from Postpartum Support International. I work with individuals and couples to help prepare them for the postpartum time and support them through their parenting journey.
I believe we could change the world if each woman became a mother in a community where she was cherished, nurtured and revered. My goal and vision is to create space for mothers during their pregnancy and postpartum journey, honoring their birth experience as a rite of passage into motherhood.
My Approach
“Seize the opportunity that motherhood brings for retreat, and contemplate your retreat as a creative rebirth of yourself. Ponder the essence of your own creative motherhood; envision and then manifest your radiant form”- Tami Lynn Kent
My work is rooted in relational, humanist, mindfulness, psychodynamic and trauma informed frameworks.
I also draw from eco-therapy, feminism, the spiritual practice of shaminism and incorporate the lens of systems of oppression into all my work. .
I believe in honoring the spirit, intellect and wisdom of each person I work with. I also believe that every person has a deep desire to live their lives from their highest potential. My role as a therapist is to create safe healing space and deep dialogue to bring conscious awareness to conditioned patterns and core beliefs that hold people back.
I offer a collaborative relationship based on acceptance, empathy, curiosity and respect.
