Associate Marriage and Family Therapist #143163
Clients/Groups/Communities I work with: I enjoy working with children, youth, and adults with various backgrounds. I have mostly focused on working with the Latine/x, LGBTQIA+, and neurodivergent community but I’m open to working with people from all walks of life. What is most important to me is that you feel as though we would be a good fit!
My Background
I began working in the mental health field in 2018 as a Behavioral Interventionist working with children on the autism spectrum. I’ve worked with children that have various disabilities (both physical and cognitive), as well as their parents/guardians/support systems. I graduated in 2018 with my Bachelor’s in Psychology at Sonoma State University to then go on to receive a Master’s in Counseling Psychology at the University of San Francisco in 2023. My passion in this field stems from my own personal relationship with mental health. As a queer Latine person, I had to learn to navigate the world in a way that honors all the parts of myself. I strive to work with and help those who struggle with identity whether it is race, gender, sexuality, religion or any other aspects that contribute to who they are. I utilize a trauma-informed lens in my practice so it is important that I create a safe space for my clients to express their experiences without judgment while being aware of triggers. Common presenting problems in my work with my clients are anxiety, depression, and PTSD. Often my approach to these issues is to utilize self-compassion, and self-understanding while working on detaching from stigma. Caring for one’s self greatly improves one’s quality of life no matter where they are in their journey. Just because you may be struggling does not mean you are failing!

Who am I?
I am the eldest child of Mexican immigrant parents and an older sibling to a sister. Growing up I was taught to care for and support my family while encouraged to be independent. I know first-hand what it feels to have pressure from society to fit a certain cookie cutter version of me. Although it was a struggle, I discovered what it truly means to be oneself while honoring where I came from. I learned what it means for me to be a queer individual and enjoy helping others discover what that means for them. I grew up in both public and private school systems and was exposed to many people from different cultures. I am creative and incorporate artistic elements in the work I do with clients. I believe that these elements of art and creativity are not something we grow out of from childhood, but rather we lose touch with it, so I believe it is important to connect with one’s sense of self-expression. I love music, fashion, and photography but am so much more. I am Chicano, a homie, a prime/x, a sibling, an hije/x, an emotional cheerleader, dancer and singer (not professionally lol), but most importantly I am human. So, let’s be kind and spread love!
